Arizona Diamondbacks‘ Zac Gallen would be a Cy Young candidate in the National League if it wasn’t for Sandy Alcantara‘s all-around greatness.

The talented right-hander is currently enjoying an ongoing 41.1-inning scoreless streak as we speak: yes, he hasn’t allowed any earned runs in his last six starts.

He is slated to take the mound again on Sunday, against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Gallen Has Become Matchup-Proof Thanks To His Recent Performance
It’s definitely a tough matchup, for sure, but the way he has been pitching, he could take the ball in the sun and still toss seven scoreless frames.
If he throws one more scoreless frame, he would break the franchise record, set by Brandon Webb in 2007 with 42.

Gallen’s resolve will be tested in the month of September.
He has had an incredible season, with an 11-2 record and a 2.42 ERA in 152.2 innings.
He has an excellent 40/152 BB/K ratio, too, so his success isn’t the product of good fortunes.
