White Sox Honor Liam Hendriks With Touching Message

On Sunday, the Chicago White Sox and the rest of the MLB world was hit with shocking and sad news when veteran closer Liam Hendriks revealed that he had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The 33-year-old right-hander and three-time All-Star shared the news via a statement on Instagram.

Hendriks has always been a fierce competitor and will now face one of the toughest obstacles of his life.

However, he reiterated that he was determined to fight through it and prevail with the support of his teammates, the White Sox organization, his family, and doctors.

On Twitter, the White Sox shared a touching message, lifting their All-Star closer in prayer.

Cancer is a disease that affects so many around the world.

When the word “cancer” is spoken, it sends chills down the spines of everybody.

The same can be said when a beloved professional athlete is diagnosed.

This is certainly difficult news to hear as it marks the beginning of a difficult journey for Hendriks.

But the power of prayers is undeniable, and we can only hope that as Hendriks begins this difficult journey, he feels the support of the entire baseball community.

In addition to his three All-Star appearances, the veteran closer has earned two American League Reliever of the Year Awards over the course of his 12-year career.

Hendriks will begin his treatment today, as he had mentioned in his statement.

Hopefully, Hendriks will have a speedy recovery and be back on the mound pitching for the White Sox at some point in 2023.
