The Dallas Cowboys have been very explosive on offense this year.

In both the passing and rushing game, they have caused problems for opposing defenses.

One player that deserves plenty of credit for that is running back Tony Pollard.

The 25-year-old running back is 12 yards away from his first career 1,000-yard rushing season.

Having played last week, Pollard would be well over 1,000 yards, but he gets the chance to achieve the milestone in the final week.

Pollard was already named to the pro bowl this season, which is an impressive honor in its own right.

He entered the season as the backup to Ezekiel Elliott but has since emerged over the past few weeks.

Pollard has received at least 53% of the offensive snaps in his last three games.

This goes to show the Cowboys are looking to get him more involved than Elliott.

Both running backs play a large role in the Dallas offense anyway.

Elliot is the short-yardage back and touchdown machine, having scored one in nine straight games.

With Pollard being far more explosive.

According to Player Profiler, Pollard is sixth in the NFL in yards per touch this season with 6.0.

He is also eighth in the league in yards created per touch with 3.39.

There are very few amounts of players that can create space and pickup yardage like Pollard.

Amongst running backs with at least 120+ carries, Pollard is tied for first in yards per rush with 5.3.

Just about every stat and metric you can find on Pollard tells you how good he has been this season.

Expect the Cowboys to give Pollard a heavy dose of the work early in the game.

As he might be able to get the milestone out of the way after just one rush.

Look for the former fourth-round pick to be a focal point on Sunday in what has been the best season of his young career.
