The Carolina Panthers came into this offseason knowing they needed to get the head coach right.

After firing Matt Rhule this past season, the Panthers had three coaches in mind for the job.

It was between interim head coach Steve Wilks, former Colts head coach Frank Reich, and Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

The decision came in that the Panthers have decided to hire Reich as their next head coach.

This seems like a smart move for the Panthers even though Wilks had them in playoff contention last season.

Reich was fired by the Colts during the season, and many people were shocked to see that.

So it should not be a surprise to see him find a new job so quickly.

Reich is an offensive mastermind and someone that should help the Panthers turn their quarterback situation around.

Carolina has not had a franchise quarterback since Cam Newton, and that is a direct correlation to why they have not won.

The first job for Reich should be to find their quarterback of the future, either through the draft or trade.

The good thing for Reich and the Panthers is that the NFC South seems to be wide open.

So, they should be able to compete in 2023, especially if Tom Brady decides to leave the Buccaneers.

Carolina also has the ninth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, where they could so choose to select a quarterback.

In an offensive league, the Panthers needed a smart offensive coach to lead their team.

They got that in Reich, now it is up to him to build a team that can consistently compete.
