Fans of the Brooklyn Nets can breathe a big sigh of relief.

When Kevin Durant went down with a knee injury on Sunday night, followers were terrified that they were about to lose their best player for the foreseeable future.

Durant has been putting up 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists this season and has helped the team have a huge turnaround and surge to the second spot in the East.

The team doesn’t have a great track record without their star player so what would they do without Durant?

It sounds like the lack of Durant won’t last too long.

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Durant will be re-evaluated in two weeks with an MCL sprain.

He added that there is “optimism” that Durant will miss less time than he did last season when he was out for six weeks due to a similar injury.

Obviously, the Nets don’t want to lose Durant for any amount of time but the fact that he won’t be gone for longer than he was last year is great news indeed.

Despite a rough start to the year, the Nets are now competitive and legitimately great.

They are currently just one game behind the top-seeded Boston Celtics and there are many people who believe they could surpass them.

Doing so without Durant will be a tall order but the good news is that the entire Nets roster has gotten much better lately, under the stellar leadership of head coach Jacque Vaughn.

The team is going to need to step up and become even more combative and competitive now that Durant is going to be sitting for a couple of weeks but the news they got today is definitely promising.
