The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have a whole lot to celebrate last year.

They did very poorly last season and didn’t even make the playoffs, shocking and upsetting every fan who stayed loyal to the team for years.

But they will have a lot to cheer about next season, even if their winning record remains low.

The Lakers took to social media to remind fans that next season will mark 75 years of the Lakers.

It’s been a long, historic road over the last 75 years but this important anniversary comes in the midst of a really rough patch.

Maybe season 75 will be the one that finds the Lakers turning things around.

Lacking Lakers

The Lakers got their start back in 1947 all the way over in Minneapolis, Minnesota, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers.

Then, the team moved to LA in 1960 and a new legacy was built on the West Coast.

Since then, the team has won a historic 17 championships in the NBA, the most by any team.

They have also had their bad times too, including last season when the team missed the playoffs even with the talents of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and others on board.

There are obviously some serious issues within the team that need to be worked out and it remains to be seen if they will be.

New head coach Darvin Ham seems certain that he can get the team in shape and says he has many plans to make that happen.

But the changes made in the offseason so far have been minimal and that is leading many to fear that the upcoming season will be a lot like the last.

If that’s the case, year 75 could be yet another one that fans would like to forget.
