The Cowboys Have A Roster That Should Be Set For The Future

The Dallas Cowboys have a chance to make the NFC Championship game for the first time in 26 years.

With a win on Sunday, that is exactly what they will do.

Even though winning this season is all that matters, Dallas has a roster that should be successful for a long time.

Looking at the current ages of each remaining playoff team’s rosters, the Cowboys have the youngest.

The best way to have a young, successful roster like the Cowboys is by building through the draft.

That is exactly what the Cowboys have done over the years.

Just this past draft they added multiple rookies that are now starting in the playoffs.

First-round pick Tyler Smith, and fifth-round pick DaRon Bland will each be starting on Sunday.

While second-round pick Sam Williams, and fourth-round pick Jake Ferguson also play key roles.

Dallas has always paid for cheap free agents, while players they have drafted are filling a majority of the roster.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is the oldest remaining QB in the playoffs at 29 years old.

Of the Cowboys players that have played a meaningful role this season, only five of them are 30 years or older.

Two players on the Cowboys’ offense are 30 or older and they are both offensive linemen, Zack Martin and Tyron Smith.

After consecutive 12-win seasons, the Cowboys should be excited about what the future holds.

But, they will ultimately be judged on how far they go in the playoffs.

This weekend’s game has a chance to be the biggest win for Dallas in a little over two decades.

It will be interesting to see how their young roster responds.
