The Carlos Correa Saga Is Finally Over

On Tuesday, fans of the Minnesota Twins rejoiced after news broke that their star shortstop, Carlos Correa, would be staying put.

The deal is for six years and $200 million, but has several vesting options that can increase the length of the contract, as well as the amount of money Correa can earn.

But it wasn’t an easy road for Correa.

At first, he had agreed to a deal with the San Francisco Giants.

However, that fell through when the team raised concerns over his physical.

The New York Mets swooped in and stole him away, but they too expressed concerns with his physical.

The process lasted several weeks, but at long last, the saga has come to an end.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the deal is now official, and Correa has passed his physical.

That was certainly an adventure.

But finally, Correa is signed, and all the major free agents have come off the board.

There are still several free agents on the market, but none of Correa’s caliber.

The Twins were unlikely to retain Correa at the start of the offseason.

But two mega-deals and failed physicals later, the two-time All-Star is headed back to Minnesota.

The Twins have been busy this offseason, signing Christian Vazquez and Joey Gallo.

With Correa back in the fold, the Twins look ready to rebound from an epic collapse late in the 2022 season and capture an AL Central title in 2023.

Twins fans can now breathe easy.

Correa isn’t going anywhere.
