The Cardinals Are Interviewing An Intriguing HC Candidate

The Arizona Cardinals recently fired their head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Similar to the other NFL teams that have recently fired their head coaches, the Cardinals began their search for a new leader immediately following the regular season.
Although other teams across the league have gone for more traditional head coaching candidates, the Cardinals have begun their search in a more unorthodox place.
The #AZCardinals have requested permission to interview #Steelers senior defensive assistant and LBs coach Brian Flores for their vacant HC position, sources say.

The Cardinals’ head coach search will begin with Brian Flores.
Flores was the senior defensive assistant and linebacker coach this past season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which directly followed his tenure as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Although Flores is certainly a great coaching candidate, the top “free agent” head coaches of this offseason thus far have been Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton.
Up to this point, the Cardinals have not requested interviews for either of these two, and it remains to be seen if they will do so.
Either way, Flores could be a good fit within the Cardinals organization, which is in desperate need of a new leader.
They have a young team, led by recently extended Kyler Murray, their franchise quarterback.
The Cardinals weren’t able to string many wins together in 2022 and will look to bounce back next season.
By building their roster in free agency and through the draft, and spearheaded by a new coach, the Cardinals will have their work cut out for them if they want a chance to contend in a strong NFC West.
Is Flores the answer that the team is looking for?
