Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes already owns a Super Bowl ring, a Super Bowl MVP trophy, and a regular season Most Valuable Player award.

He also has the richest contract in sports with a ten-year, $450 million contract.

He has led the Chiefs to two wins in as many games to start their 2022 campaign.

But after another victory over the division rival Los Angeles Chargers, he also apparently owns the AFC West.

ESPN’s Field Yates tweeted, “The Chiefs are now 22-3 with Patrick Mahomes as their starter in AFC West. No QB has guided his team to more wins in his first 25 divisional games since the NFL merger in 1970. They’ve owned the AFC West.”

Much like how Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have dominated the NFC North in recent years, Mahomes and the Chiefs are the kings of their division.

The defeats came in Week 15 of the 2018 season against the Chargers, Week 5 of the 2020 season versus the Las Vegas Raiders, and Week 3 of 2021 against the Chargers.

Mahomes has not tasted defeat against the Denver Broncos.

The former Texas Tech standout padded his record by defeating the Chargers yesterday.

He finished the game with 24 completions for 235 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

The Chiefs Found An Extra Gear

Mahomes and the Chiefs were counted out this season after losing wide receiver Tyreek Hill and safety Tyrann Mathieu.

However, all they have done in their first two games is to prove their doubters wrong.

They started the season with a dominating 44-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Mahomes threw for 360 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in that game.

Kansas City also found a way to win in a tightly-fought game versus the Chargers.

It remains to be seen if they will continue to steamroll the opposition when they face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
