Son Of Giants Scout Comments On His Dad’s Incredible Honor

Late on Tuesday, San Francisco Giants scout Jim Gabella took home an incredible honor.
Gabella was awarded the Dick Tidrow Scout of the Year Award.
The award was established in 2022 in honor of the late, great Dick Tidrow, who pitched 13 seasons in the big leagues with the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets, and later served as general manager of the Giants.
Tidrow passed away in 2021.
But Gabella took home a special award named after the great Tidrow.
On Twitter, Gabella’s son Cody commented on his dad’s accomplishment, praising him for not saying much about himself and teaching him valuable lessons, while expressing how proud he was.
He won’t ever talk about himself.. so I will! He raised me to never say how good you are at something.. Let others say it for you.
Its about damn time!
Proud is an understatement.. Love you! https://t.co/iAWZ66IYWg

“Proud dad” moments happen all the time, when their children accomplish something major.
This was a “proud son” moment.
The Tidrow award is given annually to the Giants scout who best represents the integrity, character, and work ethic exemplified by Tidrow during his life.
Gabella was lucky enough to do just that and earn a special honor.
The Giants are an organization deeply rooted in tradition and history, with great players, teams, executives, and managers alike leaving their mark.
Tidrow certainly left his mark in San Francisco as the general manager.
But if Gabella doesn’t like to talk much about himself, then his son certainly summed up what he means to the game and him personally.
This is an incredible honor for Gabella, and his son’s words of encouragement are simply the icing on the cake.
