The Sean Payton sweepstakes have officially begun.

Payton was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints for 15 seasons and is being headhunted by many teams across the NFL to be their next head coach.

Currently, there are five head coach vacancies.

The openings are with the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts.

It appears that, at this point, three of the five have committed to interviewing Payton, and we suspect that he will be interviewed by the other two as well.

Payton’s tenure in the league could provide invaluable experience to each of these five franchises.

With five teams needing new head coaches, each team will need to put together a creative and enticing package for any interviewee, especially if they are serious about that coach.

Although nothing is set in stone, Jim Harbaugh has emerged as the favorite to take the Broncos’ job.

If that’s the case, there are only four head coach openings.

Of the remaining four, the two teams that make the most sense for Payton are the Cardinals and the Colts.

The Cardinals have Kyler Murray locked in as their starting quarterback for the next several years, so Payton would have a stable piece to work with, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

The Colts have a great offensive line, and their defense is stupendous as well.

This, paired with the fact that they have a star running back in Jonathan Taylor, the Colts are another location that could be appealing for Payton, as he has an elite talent to build a team around.
