For weeks now, conventional wisdom said that the New York Knicks were the frontrunners to acquire Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz.

The Knicks were trying hard to make this happen and had already allegedly offered the Jazz a deal, although it hasn’t resulted in any progress.

But now there is talk that the Knicks aren’t alone in their pursuit of the treasured guard.

The New York Post is reporting that Utah team president Danny Ainge is telling those close to him that “two other teams have made offers he likes.”

That means that the Knicks now have competition to get Mitchell.

We aren’t sure which teams are trying to get Mitchell and we definitely don’t know if any of this will result in a trade.

But it sounds like things are heated up and headed in one direction.

Mitchell Moving

There hasn’t been much movement on a Mitchell trade since news of Utah’s openness to losing Mitchell leaked.

This is because the Jazz are content to just sit back and not do anything unless they get a proposal that they are really in love with.

They have no problem retaining Mitchell for the season ahead, they will not race into any deal or settle on anything less than stunning.

All of this makes you wonder which proposed deals Ainge has seen and what they contain.

From the Miami Heat to the Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers, and more, there have been a few teams tied to Mitchell over the last few months.

It’s not clear if any of those teams are the two that are enticing Ainge.

He’s a smart man and knows how to run a team so whatever deals he is liking are probably very special.
