Super utilityman Enrique Hernandez had the pleasure of playing alongside veteran slugger Justin Turner during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After the 2020 season, Hernandez departed Los Angeles and joined the Boston Red Sox.

Two years later, the veteran utilityman will be reunited with Turner in Boston.

The slugger signed a one-year contract with a player option for 2024.

This morning, Hernandez stopped by MLB Network to discuss what Turner brings to Boston and expressed his excitement for being reunited with his former teammate and close friend.

MLB Network tweeted a video of Hernandez’s interview with Alanna Rizzo.

The 31-year-old discussed what Turner could bring to the Red Sox clubhouse, citing his leadership skills as something that could benefit a young Boston team.

Hernandez and Turner were teammates when the Dodgers won the World Series in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

The veteran utilityman also talked about the importance of the team finding its identity after the loss of Xander Bogaerts.

Trevor Story is also going to be out for an undisclosed period after undergoing elbow surgery, so it’s possible that Hernandez himself could play a little shortstop and occasionally have Turner playing third base next to him.

Most importantly though, Hernandez is reunited with a close friend who has experienced a winning culture, which is something that he believes Turner can bring with him to Boston as they look to rebound after a disappointing 2022 season.

The Red Sox won 78 games and finished at the bottom of the American League East, but some impactful offseason moves could help them improve for 2023.
