Phillies Have A Top Rotation Duo In MLB

The Philadelphia Phillies are heading into 2023 with another loaded roster.
They should be one of the favorites to win the National League.
Plenty of credit should be given to their front office for all the moves they have made.
But, their top two starting pitchers stand out across the league.
MLB Nerds released their top starting pitcher duos heading into 2023.
The Phillies’ duo of Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola was ranked second.

Looking across the duos on this list, it is impressive that the Phillies are top two.
One thing they have going for them is that Wheeler and Nola are two of the most consistent pitchers in baseball.
They seemingly have a good season every year and are in contention for Cy Young awards.
Last season, Nola finished fourth in the league in NL Cy Young, and Wheeler finished second two seasons ago.
Two of the duos that seem underrated on this list are the Mets and the Brewers.
Despite the age of the guys in New York, Scherzer and Verlander are still two of the best in the game.
Verlander is the reigning AL Cy Young winner, and Scherzer pitched to an ERA of 2.29 last season.
If they can be healthy, they have a strong case as the best duo in the league.
For Milwaukee, their starters seem to fly under the radar.
Corbin Burnes has finished top seven in NL Cy Young voting each of the last three seasons.
Plus, he led the league in games started, and strikeouts last season.
Brandon Woodruff is a dominant strikeout pitcher, that most people do not know about.
He has an ERA of 3.05 or less each of the past three seasons.
All he needs is to consistently stay healthy to be a perennial Cy Young contender.
Overall, there are a bunch of very good starting pitcher duos in the MLB.
But, the Phillies head into 2023 with one of the very best.
