A scary scene took place in Thursday’s game between the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants.

Padres utilityman Jurickson Profar was injured in a terrifying on-field collision with teammate C.J. Abrams.

Initially, he was able to walk it off, but collapsed shortly after and ended up being carted off.

He was taken to the UC San Diego Health for evaluation, and has already been diagnosed.

“Medical update: Jurickson Profar has been diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical (neck) strain. He was discharged from the hospital overnight and is currently resting. We will continue to provide updates on his status when possible,” the Padres’ Twitter handle wrote on Friday afternoon.

It was definitely an ugly scene, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Profar Will Be Fine But Will Likely Miss At Least A Few Weeks

Padres fans, and the organization as a whole, had been extremely worried about Profar’s health.

It appears that everything will eventually be okay.

There will surely be fans asking themselves when he can return to the field, but for now, the top priority is for him to get 100 percent healthy.

The fact that he was discharged from the hospital overnight is extremely positive, but he is likely to miss at least several weeks, given how tricky cervical strains are.

The 29-year-old is one of the most versatile players in the league and will be missed by the Padres for as long as he is gone.

He is hitting, as of Friday morning, .242 with 50 runs scored, eight home runs, 38 RBI, four stolen bases, and a .740 OPS, while playing several positions across the diamond.

He has been an important contributor to the Padres’ early-season success.
