The Baltimore Orioles made some news this afternoon when it was announced that two of their top prospects, Gunnar Henderson and DL Hall, would be joining their taxi squad in Cleveland.

But the Orioles have made yet another move to help strengthen their roster, adding veteran slugger Jesus Aguilar on a minor league deal.

Aguilar, who has cut loose by the Miami Marlins just a few days ago, will also join the team’s taxi squad in Cleveland for the final two games of their series with the Cleveland Guardians.

Orioles insider Dan Connolly revealed the news about Aguilar via Twitter.

Aguilar, 32, had posted just a .674 OPS during his time with the Marlins this year, but he had hit 15 home runs.

In addition to that, he was hitting .236 with 49 RBI.

He has a career .778 OPS in nine seasons.

O’s Take A Chance On Aguilar

This could turn out to be a nice low-risk, high-reward type move for the Orioles.

They didn’t add anybody at the trade deadline, but having another bat in the system could help them out tremendously.

Aguilar is a veteran who has been around the game for some time.

He’s been a solid power hitter over his nine seasons in the big leagues.

He came up through the Guardians’ system in 2014 and played there through the 2016 season.

He played a few seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers before a brief stop with the Tampa Bay Rays.

He’s been with the Marlins ever since.

This could help strengthen their offense a little bit as they look to remain alive in the American League Wild Card race.

They sit just three games back of the Toronto Blue Jays in that race with a month to go.
