The fate of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson remains in the balance.

Former federal judge Sue Robinson recommended a six-game suspension for Watson as punishment for his violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

The infraction stems from his civil cases of sexual misconduct, most of which he has settled.

Prior to the Browns’ preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Watson apologized to all the women he has impacted.

Unfortunately, he struggled to make the most of his opportunities in-game by completing only one out of five pass attempts for seven yards.

Meanwhile, the league appealed Robinson’s verdict as they push for an indefinite suspension.

If that happens, Watson won’t play the entire 2022 and some parts of the 2023 seasons.

The decision rests on Commissioner Roger Goodell, who delegated the verdict to a third party.

That said, ESPN’s Dan Graziano has an update on Watson’s status for the upcoming season.

Graziano tweeted, “Sources close to the Deshaun Watson situation believe a resolution could come today or tomorrow. Recent talks between NFL and Watson’s reps have heightened hope that they can reach a settlement without Peter C. Harvey having to rule, but it’s unclear how much longer he will wait.”

What Will Happen To The Browns?

There’s no insider information yet regarding the final judgment for Watson.

But whatever happens, he will miss out on some games and Jacoby Brissett will likely take over for him at quarterback.

Knowing the settlement sooner will help the Browns plan accordingly and temper their expectations.

Yet regardless of what happens, they won’t bring in another quarterback anymore.

Meanwhile, Watson has a lot of catching up to do to put himself back into game shape.

After all, his first appearance against the Jaguars didn’t look promising.
