Baker Mayfield‘s situation with the Cleveland Browns remains messy.

It looks like the team would rather start Jacoby Brissett over him if Deshaun Watson ends up missing games.

The Browns did him dirty after they declared he would not be traded earlier this offseason.

However, the Browns then traded for Watson and signed him to a five-year, $230 million deal.

Those moves left Mayfield unwanted as the team put him on the trading block.

On that note, Oklahoma reporter Carey Murdock shared Mayfield’s statement about the Browns reaching out to him first to have any chance for a reconciliation.

But CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson refuted this post.

Anderson tweeted in response to Murdock’s post, “Hold up now. This is not according to my understanding of how things went down –still unreported–prior to mandatory camp. There’s always two sides to a story, but still…”

In the comments section, SoonerScoop.com shared a video interview with Mayfield during his youth camp in Norman, Oklahoma.

When asked if he will ever play for the Browns again, Mayfield said, “I think it’s pretty obvious that the mutual decision on both sides is to move on. I’m thankful for my four years in Cleveland. There’s a lot of ups and downs and a ton of learning experiences that I’ll forever keep with me.”

Hard To See Mayfield Suiting Up For The Browns Again

There’s no sense for the Browns to take Mayfield off the trading block.

In fact, that is a disservice to him because they are showing interest only because they need him.

Therefore, it would be better to send him elsewhere and the Seattle Seahawks might be interested.

They are one of the only teams that could be actively seeking a quarterback because their current depth chart is shallow.

Mayfield could make a difference with that team and possibly earn an extension.
