The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to give quarterback Tom Brady a day off every Wednesday.

The 45-year-old play-caller said on his podcast, “The fact that I have worked weekends the last 23 years, I do deserve one day off a week.”

Aside from the fact that he is advanced in age, his numbers after two games are relatively low.

While the Buccaneers have won their first two games, Brady has 36 completions for 402 yards and two touchdowns.

However, his completion rate is at 59 percent and he has thrown one interception.

But to clarify matters, NFL insider Albert Breer explained what the Wednesday day off meant.

Breer tweeted, “One important note here, building off @RapSheet’s Sunday report—Sources say that while @TomBrady will have Wednesdays off from practice, he’ll be in the building for @Buccaneers meetings, walkthrough, etc., etc. (That nuance matters bc Wednesday is when the gameplan goes in.)”

Therefore, he won’t be free to go anywhere and spend the day as he wants to.

Instead, he will still be at the Buccaneers’ facility but won’t participate in practices.

It’s an odd dynamic for a quarterback known for his attention to detail and utmost preparation.

If that’s the case, is he nursing an injury that the team hasn’t made public?

Keeping Brady Fresh Throughout The Season

Though he has kept himself in shape for more than two decades, Brady’s body will eventually give in to old age.

The Wednesday break should help him reenergize for their game that week, be it on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday.

But while he won’t prepare physically, he will still arm himself mentally with tons of information about their strategy and the other team’s nuances.

That approach will give an edge against their opponents.
