NFL Fans React To The Matt Canada News

Yesterday, it was announced that Matt Canada would be returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers next season.
Canada has been the Steelers’ offensive coordinator for just two seasons, but many have scrutinized his role with the team.
Between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the Steelers offense was among the league’s worst in consideration of how few points they scored per game.
As one might imagine, the Steelers’ faithful took to Twitter to express their feelings about Canada being given a second chance with the team.
Last thing ill say regarding Matt Canada:
PIT finished 23rd in points per drive. Let’s recap who was worse:
NE: fired OC
ARI: Fired HC/play caller
TB: fired OC
TEN: fired OC
WAS: fired OC
NYJ: fired OC
DEN: fired HC/play caller
HOU: fired everyone
IND: fired HC/play caller— Derrick (@Steelers_DB) January 18, 2023
This Steelers fan took a comparative approach to the team’s offense in comparison to similar teams across the league.
As you can see, the nine teams worse than the Steelers made some sort of change to their offensive coaching staff, firing either their head coach, play-caller, or offensive coordinator.
The Steelers are the one exception to this rule, and they must believe that Canada is their long-term answer.
However, many Steelers fans are fed-up with the offense and are begging for a change.

This fan is likely referring to Canada’s antiquated play-calling.
In a league that is constantly evolving and changing, it’s important to mold your team to the times, adapting to what your opponents are doing.

This offense under Canada will not likely be conducive for Kenny Pickett, who will be in his second NFL season in 2023.
Growth and development for any young player are crucial, but it will be tough for Pickett to have any semblance of growth in this offense.
