Newest Mavericks Star Talks His Relationship With Coach

When Christian Wood was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks last summer, many people wondered how he would work within the team.
The man was doing great things for the Houston Rockets, would he be able to fit into the rotation alongside Luka Doncic, one of the league’s best team leaders?
Fans were excited to see what Wood could do – but then they were shocked when head coach Jason Kidd announced that Wood would be a bench player.
Since joining the team, Wood has gradually grown from a bench player to a starter.
He has also become a pivotal part of the team and has helped them win quite a few games.
Christian Wood on his relationship with Jason Kidd:
“Before, we barely said a few words to each other. Now we’re having full conversations with each other. We’re going to dinner, seeing each other… Our relationship has gotten better.” https://t.co/ZaBbMBx5sX

Part of Wood’s new status within the team has to do with his relationship with Kidd.
Speaking about how the two get along, Wood painted a pretty rosy picture:
“Before, we barely said a few words to each other. Now we’re having full conversations with each other. We’re going to dinner, seeing each other. Our relationship has gotten better.”
It is clear that Kidd has gotten to know Wood better and has a newfound respect for the star.
You can’t blame Kidd because Wood really is something special and has been great both offensively and defensively.
He is the sort of play who Doncic can rely on and turn to in the heat of the game.
Wood touched upon his bond with Doncic, saying that “we go well together” and that he aims to remain his “secondary guy.”
The Mavericks are not as good as fans had wanted and they still rely on Doncic too much but Wood is showing them that the roster is getting deeper, slowly but surely.
