MLB writer Evan Drellich has spent the past several years writing a book centered around the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal from back in 2017.

That incident of course needs no introduction or explanation, as fans all around the game understand what took place.

The book is out for sale now and provides an in-depth analysis of the state of baseball at the time of the Astros scandal and everything that took place with not only Houston, but other teams as well.

Drellich was asked on Twitter if the book would expand beyond the Astros, and Drellich replied by saying the book analyzes everything that led up to the scandal as well, including what was taking place in the commissioner’s office.

As fans around the game will tell you, Manfred went relatively light when punishing the Astros for their sign-stealing scandal.

The same can be said about another scandal with the Boston Red Sox that came to light months later.

It’s clear that baseball is in a different state now than it was then.

These days, MLB is cracking down on the use of technology and making sure that teams are not doing anything illegally with certain devices.

More importantly, Drellich’s book doesn’t just focus on the Astros and what took place in 2017, but also examines what other teams had tried and how it all ultimately led to baseball being the way it was by the time the Astros were caught.

Baseball was in a precarious position back then, and it’s safe to say that things have changed slightly since then.
