MLB Minor Leagues Will Use Robot Umpires In 2023

In recent years, MLB has made attempts to adapt with the times.

At this point, it’s common knowledge that soon, baseball will be experimenting with robot umpires, perhaps as early as 2024.

But the minor leagues are starting to make some strides.

Last season, Triple-A teams began to experiment with the pitch clock that will be coming to the big leagues in 2023.

In addition to the pitch clock, larger bases will be used, and the defensive shift will be discontinued.

According to a report from ESPN’s Buster Olney, robot umpires will be implemented at the Triple-A level this coming season and will be used at all Triple-A ballparks.

Many around the game have been calling for some changes to be made.

More specifically, fans are tired of certain umpires consistently making the wrong calls, especially when it comes to balls and strikes.

But now, it appears that the minor leagues will be making some drastic changes concerning umpires.

Many believe that with an automated strike zone and robot umpires, the game will move more quickly, and with fewer arguments from managers and players.

A major talking point of baseball in recent years is the fact that games have moved at a much slower pace.

But many are hoping that games will be sped up as a result of this.

If all goes according to plan in 2023, then we could potentially see robot umpires at the Major League level by 2024 or 2025.

MLB will at least be experimenting with the electronic strike zone next season.
