The Juan Soto sweepstakes are heating up.
With just six days to go before the August 2 trade deadline, there will be a ton of speculation on where some of the big names are going to end up.
Andrew Benintendi came off the board last night, as the New York Yankees made a deal with the Kansas City Royals to acquire him.
But the talk of the town has been about Soto.
On Twitter, Buster Olney of ESPN posted an update that will have fans of the San Diego Padres feeling very excited about the next couple of days.
Olney revealed that the Padres look to be the frontrunners right now for Soto.
As of Thursday morning, some rival executives perceive the Padres to be the frontrunner to land Juan Soto.

Padres Favorites For Soto
This is big news.
Padres fans are going to be very excited to see this.
They just barely missed out on Max Scherzer a year ago, only to watch him essentially land in the lap of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Acquiring Soto would be a huge statement for them and would give them a good chance to potentially challenge the Dodgers down the stretch, or at the very least, close the gap in the division a little bit.
The Padres are a team that is in a good position to acquire Soto with all of the prospects they have.
Padres fans probably feel like it’s time they made a big move to counter the Dodgers and take a little power back in the NL West, a division they have not won since 2006.
We’ll see how the next couple of days play out.
