Lakers Coach Doesn’t Know What His Team Needs

The NBA trade deadline is in just a few weeks and a lot of attention is being paid to the Los Angeles Lakers and any possible changes they might make.
After months of ups and downs and unfortunate injuries, the Lakers are 13th in the West and still a long way off from where they want to be.
So, will they make some big changes?
Darvin Ham said he “can’t pinpoint” a specific need on the Lakers’ roster a few weeks out from the trade deadline, but did say (with a smile) that “shooting always helps.”

That’s obviously a choice for the front office but head coach Darvin Ham was asked about any needs his team has before the deadline.
He said that he couldn’t “pinpoint” a specific need for his team but slyly said that “shooting always helps.”
What The Lakers Lack
Ham is not wrong: the team could always use some help with shooting, although they could also use help with defense and with staying healthy too.
Now, the question is if Rob Pelinka and the rest of the front office actually make some big moves before the trade deadline.
No one is entirely sure what steps the team will take: will they deal away their future draft picks for someone substantial right now or will they hold onto all their assets and wait for the offseason to come in the summer?
Some people want the Lakers to act now to take advantage of the power of LeBron James, while others would rather they wait for free agency in hopes of landing someone like Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, or others.
Even if the Lakers make a big trade before the deadline, they still have their work cut out for them in the weeks ahead.
They are currently not even eligible to appear in the play-in tournament.
If the Lakers miss that for two years in a row, fans will be shocked and demand serious change.
