Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is used to being younger than his peers.

He started playing baseball at a very young age, and it quickly became evident that he had enough talent to pursue a career doing what he loved.

Then, in the minor leagues, he was always significantly younger than the average player at his level.

He made it to the majors at 21 years old and is currently the league’s premier young star.

In MLB, he keeps making history with his performance and youth.

“Julio Rodríguez is the 4th AL player age 21-or-younger to hit 25+ home runs in his first MLB season, joining Joe DiMaggio (1936), Ted Williams (1939) & Eddie Murray (1977),” Mariners insider Alex Mayer tweeted.

Just three additional players besides J-Rod had ever hit 25 or more home runs in their debut years while aged 21 or younger.

All of them are members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

An Incredible Debut Season For The Talented Hitter

Rodriguez, the leading candidate to win the AL Rookie of the Year award, is hitting .277/.340/.494 with 25 home runs and 24 stolen bases so far.

That’s an impressive debut year, especially when you factor in that J-Rod is 21.

His performance already earned him a huge contract that left him set for life financially.

The Mariners’ young star will have competition for the AL ROY award in Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman, but with 4.5 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) to his name already, Rodriguez should be the favorite.

He came in and helped transform a whole city into a winning place.

He has talent, but also a winning aura that captivated a whole city.

Rodriguez will be Seattle’s leader for years to come.
