Jadeveon Clowney Signed With The Browns For 1 Reason

Ultimately, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney chose to re-sign with the Cleveland Browns.

He could have joined another team because of the massive interest in him.

After all, who wouldn’t want a defensive player who had nine sacks last season?

But he chose to return to the AFC North squad for a specific player.

Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov tweeted, “#Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney says he returned to Cleveland because Deshaun Watson is with the team. He probably was going to sign with the #Falcons if Watson ended up there.”

Apparently, his decision hinged on the fate of the Pro Bowl quarterback.

Watson officially joined the Browns after signing a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed deal.

It was a shocking outcome, considering that Watson initially informed Cleveland that he wasn’t interested in coming.

Now that he’s with the Browns, the team hopes that they will see the play-caller who had 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2020.

In the accompanying video, Clowney said, “When I talked to him, I said I’ll play with him. I know that wherever you go, you’ll put up a lot of points. I just want to play with him and see what I can do with him.”

Wreaking Havoc On Both Sides

If he returns to game shape, Watson will be a problem to opposing defenses, granted that he will play.

The league is still discussing a potential suspension for him due to his civil lawsuits for alleged sexual misconduct.

Meanwhile, Clowney will run it back again with fellow defensive lineman Myles Garrett.

Those two players will terrorize quarterbacks on the other side and collect sacks in the process.

If everything goes well, the Browns have the opportunity to bounce back from their disappointing performance last season.
