Dexter Fowler Discusses His Post-Retirement Plans

This morning, veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler, who has played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, announced his retirement.

The 36-year-old was most recently in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Over the course of his MLB career, Fowler played for the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Angels.

But even after retiring as a player, Fowler doesn’t want to be done with baseball.

The former World Series champion and All-Star expressed his desire to potentially become a part-owner of a team, stating that he feels like he could build a great team and put a winning product out on the field.

As a former player, Fowler may end up being an owner that current players come to respect.

The 14-year MLB veteran has been a part of several winning teams as well with the Rockies, Cubs, and Cardinals.

So naturally, Fowler understands what it takes to build a winning ballclub and everything that goes into that process.

He was a member of the Cubs team that broke the “Curse of the Billy Goat” and won their first World Series title since 1908.

He may also have several notable teammates who could vouch for him as he looks to start the next chapter of his baseball life.

He played with stars such as Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Willson Contreras, Anthony Rizzo, Matt Carpenter, Jose Altuve, and Kris Bryant.

So as a former player, Fowler may immediately earn the respect of current players.

His playing career may be over, but it’s clear that he isn’t done with baseball.
