Earlier this offseason, All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting him with his college teammate Derek Carr.

Likewise, he agreed to a five-year, $141.25 million deal which made him the highest-paid wideout at the time of signing.

Adams will join an offensive unit that already has Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller.

Undoubtedly, he will be Carr’s main target, especially during home-run plays.

He will have a fresh start in his career after spending eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

It’s shocking that he would leave a favorable situation of playing with reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers.

However, Adams recently confirmed that the quarterback’s impending retirement made him look elsewhere.

That said, Rodgers might not play through the entire three-year, $150 million contract he signed.

Therefore, he looked for the next big thing and turned to Carr.

For Adams, the capabilities of both play-callers are not too far apart.

Pro Football Focus shared a quote regarding Adams’ comparison between Rodgers and Carr.

He said, “As far as talent and ability, it’s really similar if I’m keeping it real.”

It’s hard to agree with Adams because their achievements are far apart.

Rodgers has won a Super Bowl, been a four-time MVP, and became a four-time First-Team All-Pro.

Meanwhile, Carr is a three-time Pro Bowler who hasn’t even won a playoff game.

Adams Will Help Elevate Carr

Carr still has time to write better chapters to his NFL career and Adams will be of big help.

Last season, the Raiders lacked a legitimate deep threat after Henry Ruggs III was released from the squad.

Adams will take that role and help Carr improve his game.

Who knows, Carr could become the latest member of the 5,000-yard club with Adams on board.

More importantly, they get to make a deep playoff run with Renfrow and Waller.
