Carlos Correa Was Surprised Like The Rest Of Us

Not one, but two MLB teams decided not to sign Carlos Correa after seeing his medical records carefully.

He lost some serious money in the process, too: first the San Francisco Giants agreed to a $350 million deal with him.

They had even scheduled a press conference, which they cancelled near the start time presumably because of the issues they found with his ankle.

After that deal fell through, it didn’t take long for him to find a new club.

The Mets worked out a $315 million pact, only to nix it a few days later for similar reasons.

Unlike the Giants, the Mets tried to work out a restructured deal, but failed to so because the player’s camp wouldn’t budge on certain things and wasn’t happy accepting a much lower guarantee.

In the end, the Minnesota Twins pounced and secured him with a six-year, $200 million pact.

He has the chance to make it a $270 million contract when all is said and done.

Today, Correa admitted that he was shocked to learn that two MLB teams refused to sign him because of his ankle.

The ankle didn’t stop him from putting up some excellent numbers last season with the Twins.

In 136 games, he belted 22 home runs, achieved a .834 OPS and a 140 OPS+ while playing excellent defense.

He will try to lead the Twins back to the playoffs after missing them in 2022.

Only time will tell if his ankle issues were legitimate.
