This offseason has been relatively quiet for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Outside of signing Willson Contreras to fill the catcher hole and add an impact bat, the team hasn’t done much of anything.

But even with some holes still needing to be filled, there is a lot to look forward to for the Cardinals.

The team won 93 games in 2022 and coasted to their 13th NL Central title.

With the addition of Contreras, the team now has three proven power bats in the middle of their lineup.

On Twitter, one fan expressed excitement for seeing Contreras in the same lineup as reigning MVP Paul Goldschmidt and fellow MVP finalist Nolan Arenado.

This is one reason to be excited for the 2023 season if you’re a Cardinals fan.

Again, certain needs could still be addressed.

But in terms of offense, this team looks all set.

For the first time since 2013, the Cardinals have three proven power bats in their lineup, and if all goes according to plan, this lineup could give fans flashbacks to mid-2000s, when they had the “MV3” combination of Albert Pujols, Jim Edmonds, and Scott Rolen.

With those three in the middle of their lineup, St. Louis won four division titles in five years and reached the World Series twice, winning in 2006.

But with Contreras on board, the Cardinals lineup looks solid.

Couple that with a bounce-back campaign from Tyler O’Neill and the lineup could be among the best in all of baseball.

Fans are excited to see Contreras in action with Goldschmidt and Arenado.
