While the 2022-23 NFL season might be a wash for the Chicago Bears, it’s a time-to-shine moment for Justin Fields.

The young quarterback is on the cusp of history, as he chases down Lamar Jackson‘s rushing record.

Jackson currently holds the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season.

However, Fields has two weeks left and needs less than 200 yards to bypass Jackson’s current record.

But can Fields break this record when the Bears have nothing else to play for this season?

Fields Can Break Jackson’s Record Thanks To A Matchup With Detroit

If Fields wants to break this rushing record, he’s got to take advantage of the Bears’ matchup against the Detroit Lions.

With Fields’ record against the Lions, he can easily break Jackson’s record in Detroit.

His last meeting against them saw him rushing for 147 yards.

With the Lions having a horrible history of stopping the running game, he can run all over the defense in Detroit.

They are coming off a game where they allowed 320 rushing yards to the Carolina Panthers, something Fields can exploit.

With this matchup, it gives Fields his best chance of breaking the rushing record for a quarterback.

If he doesn’t break it in Detroit, the last game of the season is against the Minnesota Vikings.

This will be his last chance to break the record, and it can happen if the Vikings rest their starters.

However, it’s the Lions game that will ultimately decide if he breaks the rushing record or not.
