Buccaneers Insider Reveals A Major Coaching Change

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a one-and-done experience in their only playoff game of the 2022 season, losing 31-14 to the Dallas Cowboys.

Although the Buccaneers entered the playoffs with a losing record, there was still an expectation for a Tom Brady-led team to make a deep run.

They did not come away with a victory, unfortunately for the Buccaneers, which led to a major coaching change.

The Bucs have fired offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. The team is making sweeping changes to their coaching staff following an 8-9 regular season and wildcard loss to Dallas. As many as five offensive assistants and two on defense are expected to be let go.

In an announcement occurring just hours after their game had been completed, the Buccaneers moved on from Byron Leftwich, their offensive coordinator.

Leftwich played in the NFL for ten seasons, including a one-year stint with the Buccaneers.

He is a two-time Super Bowl champion, once as a player with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and once with the Buccaneers.

Leftwich has a history of winning, wherever he goes.

He has been the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator since 2019, and many have regarded him as one of the best offensive minds across the league.

Now that he has been fired, Leftwich will likely receive invitations to interview for many coaching vacancies across the league, which is similar to what happened in last year’s offseason.

Being that there are over a dozen head coaching and coordinator positions open, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Leftwich is hired by another team, and in a hurry at that.

Leftwich’s playing experience should provide an invaluable learning environment for the next team he coaches, particularly for quarterbacks and the offense as a whole.
