Bears GM Doesn’t Rule Out A Surprise At No. 1

After the Houston Texans had a come-from-behind victory on Sunday, the Chicago Bears moved into position to secure the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
While many NFL pundits have suggested their thoughts and opinions on who they think the Bears will pick, the Bears’ GM has other ideas.
#Bears General Manager Ryan Poles doesn’t rule out taking a QB with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 Draft.
However, he makes it clear it’s unlikely: “I’d have to be absolutely blown away to make that type of decision.”
He’s happy with the direction of Justin Fields.

Many players in the upcoming draft will make an instant impact on whichever team decides to draft them.
Although it seems unlikely, given the rise of Justin Fields in the 2022 NFL campaign, Bears GM Ryan Poles reminds all fans that he can do whatever wants in the draft and that drafting a quarterback is still on the table.
In the last ten drafts, the first overall draft pick has been used on a quarterback six times.
The Bears haven’t had the first overall draft pick since 1947 when they drafted running back Bob Fenimore.
There are still nearly four months until the NFL Draft, so the Bears will have plenty of time to ponder their decision.
Players that have been selected number one overall have had varied success in the league.
With all of the players in this year’s pool at their disposal, the Bears will need to carefully consider what player they should take, and take a careful look at the current makeup of the roster.
Fields has certainly proven that he has taken a meteoric leap in his sophomore season as the Bears starting quarterback.
Does the team have faith in him to continue to lead their franchise?
