The New York Yankees are currently enjoying a two-game winning streak.

It may seem insignificant, but for them, it’s a huge step forward considering their recent lousy play.

They are 11-20 in the second half, one of the worst records in the American League, so stringing together two wins seems impossible.

They still have a significant eight-game lead in the AL East and look to be improving, so things could be looking up.

One of the pre-deadline acquisitions, outfielder Andrew Benintendi, certainly preached patience in his latest meeting with the New York press.

“’Obviously this team is really consistent, once you look past this little slump we’ve been in, but everybody has confidence in each other, in the team that we have, so we got to get out there, get on a streak, and get going,’ Andrew Benintendi on the Yankees current stance,” SNY tweeted.

The Yankees Need A Hot Streak

Well, consistent teams don’t usually go 22-6 in one month (June), 13-13 in another (July), and 6-14 in another (August), but Benintendi has a point: the Yankees are a great baseball team, and they just have to go out there, get on a streak, and get going, once and for all.

They seem to be on their way to do that.

Benintendi himself was mired in an ugly slump when he came over the Kansas City Royals: his first few games with the Bombers were notoriously unproductive.

He has turned things around recently, though: he has five hits in his last three games, with a home run and four RBI.

Over his last seven games, he is slashing .320/.414/.640, and is at .296/.367/.519 in his last 15.

He is now producing at a high rate, and the Yankees are enjoying the benefits.
