Analyst Makes Bold Prediction If Chargers Lose Their Playoff Game

The Los Angeles Chargers had a nearly-perfect offseason.
They entered the campaign with a revamped defense, and some thought they would be one of the strongest candidates out of the AFC.
So, to watch them go 10-7 was slightly disappointing, all things considered, once again raising questions about Brandon Staley’s ability to lead this team to success.
That’s why ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes Staley will be fired if they fail to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card game:
“If the Los Angeles Chargers lose this game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brandon Staley will be fired. Period. He will deserve it. Period,” Smith said. “He’s 40 years old; he’s a puppy in this business, we understand that. And in fairness to him, they were 9-8 last year, then 10-7 this year. Here’s the problem: There’s too many decisions that he’s made that’s highly questionable. There’s too many times that you found yourself asking, ‘What is he thinking?’ and Justin Herbert is your quarterback. [You] can’t do that. Can’t do that to that kid.”

While Staley has indeed may some questionable decisions throughout his time with the organization, it’s also worth noting that he got the team to the playoffs despite suffering a plethora of injuries on both sides of the field.
Also, it’s not like the Jaguars are pushovers by any means.
They finished the season on a very high note and will also be the home team for this Wild Card matchup.
So, as per usual, maybe we should take Stephen A.’s words with a grain of salt.
